About the PFD

The Pocahontas Fire Department provides fire suppression, search, rescue, emergency medical, water rescue including divers, and hazardous materials decontamination services to the City of Pocahontas which has an ISO class rating of 4. The Pocahontas Rural Fire Department provides the same level of services to the residents who live in the 160 square miles outside the city limits which has an ISO class rating of 6/9. We also have mutual aid agreements with all fire departments in the county and the border counties.

The Pocahontas Fire Department is a combination department with 9 full time firefighters and 17 part time / volunteer firefighters. 8 full time firefighter rotate 24 hour shifts to cover Station 2 and Station 3 working 24 hours on duty and 72 hours off. Station 1 which is located at City Hall houses the Fire Chief’s and Fire Marshall’s Office.
